Dr. Abhijnan Chakraborty

Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur

Dr. Abhijnan Chakraborty is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kharagpur and a Young Associate of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) — a distinction awarded to only a select group of engineers nationwide. He is also the founder of Nijoswo Technologies, an IIT Kharagpur-incubated deep-tech startup building Sovereign AI Technology stack and Digital Twin solutions. His research focuses on Responsible AI, and AI for social good, with prior stints at Microsoft Research and the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems in Germany, giving him a working bridge between India’s fast-scaling AI industry and Europe’s deep-tech research ecosy stem. His work on fair gig-economy platforms and trustworthy AI systems has been featured in leading Indian media, including the Times of India and The Economic Times. Recognised with the INAE Young Engineer Award and the IEI Young Engineer Award, Dr. Chakraborty brings together deep technical expertise and entrepreneurial vision to build AI systems that are both efficient and responsible.
